ADROMISCHUS CARYOPHYLLACEUS (Burm f.) Lem.
(bolusii Schönl., grandiflorus Uitewaal, jasminiflorus Salm-Dyck, nentabossie)
Section: 3 Brevipedunculati

DISTRIBUTION
Widespread in the Robertson-Worcester Karoo, Little Karoo & southern coast.

CHARACTERS
A rather boring, green, stiff leafed, leggy Adromischus, but with the saving grace of relatively large flowers with purple mid-stripes.
Adromischus caryophyllaceus
A nice form of A. caryophyllaceus with red leaf margins, growing from stolons in the
De Hoop Nature Reserve. Photographed by Adam Harrower, Kirstenbosch.

CULTIVATION
Easy of cultivation, although it needs pruning to keep a good shape. Also, it is stoloniferous, so needs root pruning every few years! Grow in a tough regime.

COMMENTS

Clones with red marking upon the leaves as shown are more desirable.
