DISTRIBUTION
Central & SW. Namibia. This is the most
north-westerly Adromischus species.
CHARACTERSVariable in size, with rounded, obovate leaves from a
much thickened rootstock.
CULTIVATION
Like all of section 2, this is
prone to rotting, either via the
tuberous base or dried
inflorescences.
With age, the centre goes bare
and looks ugly. Then it is time
to restart your plant from a side
cutting and bin the central lump!
COMMENTS Von Poellnitz's type was a cultivated plant without any habitat data, allegedly from South Africa, but
presumably lost when the Berlin herbarium was bombed. In line with
current usage, a good choice for a replacement is Giess 9039 from
Nabitsaus, near Groot Aub, S Windhoek, Namibia.
